IGNOU Darbhanga was founded in 2005. It started as a sub-regional centre. But with an increase in enrollment, it began to function as a Regional centre in Bihar. Under its jurisdiction, ten districts of North Bihar come. Four Learner Support Centres of Darbhanga Regional Centre have been awarded gold medals. It offers various facilities like a library, student support services, pre-admission and post-admission counselling, etc.
Numerous study centers are located there. There are eight regular, eight programme, two NBPs, one special, and one sub-study center. Various courses are offered in the undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, diploma, PG, PG, and certificate programs.
