As per the University Grant Commission (UGC), the Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) course is not offered in distance education. Instead of direct LLB admission, IGNOU will start the application process for Diploma and Certificate in Law courses like Cyber Law, Patent Practice, Human Rights, Consumer Protection, Human Trafficking, and more. Admission process for IGNOU LLB/LAW courses for the July academic session is going to commence from 10 May 2026, with a deadline to submit the registration forms till 31 May 2026. The total law/LLB course fees are INR 2500 to INR 8400, depending on the specialisations. The registration fee for law courses is INR 300, and the development fee is INR 400.

IGNOU follows the regulations of UGC and thus does not offer an LLB course in ODL and Online mode. LLB is a practical, heavy course; it requires regular faculty interaction and mock drills. This is not possible to provide in a distance mode of education without affecting the quality of education.
