IGNOU BSW Admission 2026: Indira Gandhi National Open University will soon open admissions for its Bachelor of Social Work program for the 2026 session. Eligible candidates have the opportunity to apply online through the IGNOU website. The eligibility criteria require a 10+2 pass or equivalent degree. Applicants can check the IGNOU website regularly for updates on admission dates, fees, and required documents. The IGNOU BSW course fee is Rs. 6,500/- per year. The online application process required an application fee of Rs 300/-. As per previous trends, IGNOU BSW admission 2026 is anticipated to commence from 25 April 2026 and will continue till 15 May 2026* for the July academic session.

IGNOU BSW offers subjects like Social Work Intervention, Social Welfare Administration, Social Problems in India, and Substance Abuse and Counselling. This course will provide opportunities to work with NGOs, social welfare departments, and community health Centres.

IGNOU BSW Admission 2026

Indira Gandhi National Open University registration window will open for the BSW course admission in the July cycle. This course is a professional course that introduces students to the techniques of social work and relevant areas like health care, community development, and social defence, etc. Students can apply to the IGNOU BSW admission after completing the 12th class. IGNOU offer this course as both a 3-year and a 4-year course. Under the New Education Policy (NEP) students can exit with a Major in BSW in 3 years. IGNOU BSW syllabus contains subjects like Social work and its value, applied ethics, Social work Practical, etc. To complete the syllabus in this distance education course IGNOU gives the help of online resources like egyankosh, and printed study materials. Graduating in IGNOU BSW, students can look for working opportunities in areas like NGO, Planning and Social Consulting. Eligible students can apply for admission before 15 May 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU BSW Admission

A 12th qualification is needed for BSW admission at IGNOU. Students must pass 12th from a state or national school board like CBSE, Bihar Board, Tamil Nadu School Board, etc. IGNOU also accepts admission with a 12th equivalent diploma and degree like BPP. Every age student who meets IGNOU BSW eligibility criteria can apply for IGNOU BSW admission. No maximum age limit.

IGNOU BSW Course Fee

IGNOU BSW admission 2026 needs three types of fees. Students will need to submit IGNOU course fees between the range of Rs. 19,500/-. This fee depends on the number of years taken to complete the BSW course. Students can extend this course up to 4 years to get an honors degree.

An application fee of Rs. 300/- is needed for BSW admission at IGNOU. This fee covers online expenses like website fees. Similarly to this, a university development fee of Rs. 200/- is also needed during admission. Students must submit this fee along with the IGNOU BSW admission fee.

Another fee amount that students will deal with is the exam form fee. Every semester, IGNOU conducts term end examinations. IGNOU exam form fee of Rs. 200/- per theory subject is needed to sit in the IGNOU exam. There is no extra fee to get the IGNOU grade card.

IGNOU BSW Admission Process

  • Go to ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. This will open the distance admission portal.
  • Register on the IGNOU portal with your email and personal details by clicking on “New Registration“.
  • New username and password will be sent to the registered email.
  • Login to the admission portal. Use the new username and password.
  • Enter the details and start filling the IGNOU admission form.
  • Select course details. Choose BSW in the course section.
  • Upload documents that are asked in the admission form.
  • Pay the application fee for IGNOU admission.
  • Submit the application form.

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Scanned signature
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar card, PAN card, or voter ID)
  • Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC), (if applicable)
  • BPP completion certificate (for candidates using this eligibility)
  • Experience letter (for students with work experience)

  • Visit the Regional Centre and study Centre
  • “Student Service Cell” at every IGNOU centre has offline admission forms.
  • Fill out the 2026 admission form.
  • Submit documents photocopies.
  • Pay application fee of Rs. 300/-.
  • Submit the final form.

IGNOU BSW Assignment 2026

IGNOU offers practice questions for IGNOU students. BSW assignments are made as objective and subjective questions that need to be submitted before a deadline. For the current 2026 session, students need to submit BSW assignments.

IGNOU assignments have 30% marks in the final BSW grade card. These assignments are also necessary for exam hall ticket eligibility. Term-end examinations at IGNOU are preceded by IGNOU Exam forms. These forms are only open to those students who have submitted a decided number of assignments.

  • Go to @ignou.ac.in.
  • Visit the “Student Service” section. Find it on the homepage taskbar menu.
  • Click on the “Download” menu.
  • Select the link for “Current Assignment Portal” to open the BSW assignment.
  • Search the BSW subject code. Open the link for online BSW assignment.
  • Save the BSW assignment as a PDF.

How to Submit IGNOU BSW Assignments

Students can submit BSW IGNOU assignments offline and online. They can visit the allotted regional centre website and upload the assignments to Google Drive or the university’s portal. Additionally, it is also possible to visit the offline regional Centre in person and use the offline facilities there. However, students must ensure to prepare handwritten assignments. 

IGNOU BSW Evaluation System

  • The evaluation for course marks will be based on two components: continuous assessment (30%) and term-end examination (70%).
  • Continuous assessment involves submitting assignments for each course. These help you gauge your progress throughout the semester.
  • Term-end examinations are conducted twice a year, in June and December. You can choose which session to appear for based on your preparation.
  • Practical courses have separate evaluation methods, including field reports and viva-voce examinations.
  • Students must score at least 35% in both continuous assessment and term-end exams to pass each course.

IGNOU BSW Fee Refund

During the 2026 admission process BSW enrolled students can cancel their 2026 admissions. Under such conditions IGNOU BSW fee refund policy governs the amount of fees given back. Students get a 100% fee refund on BSW deposit fees before the admission is finalized. However, a fine of 15% is imparted on students after IGNOU selects the candidate and reserves a seat for them. This fine is calculated on the course fee.

Fee refund is only available on IGNOU BSW academic fees, IGNOU application fee and university development fee is non refundable. Nevertheless, students must apply for admission cancellation before the end of 60 days period from IGNOU admission last date.

How to Apply for Fee Refund

  • Open the email registered during BSW registration process 2026.
  • Prepare a mail. Write for IGNOU admission cancellation.
  • Mention BSW enrollment number. Also write the course code (BSW) and name (Bachelor of Social Work).
  • Send it to canceladms@ignou.ac.in.
  • IGNOU will initiate the fee refund.
