IGNOU January Session 2025 Overview

IGNOU Admission is the process through which students can enroll in various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). This process is available online, making it easy for students to apply from anywhere. Students must select their preferred courses, fill out the online application form, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee. Students can choose from 339 total courses at IGNOU. IGNOU Re-Registration 2025

IGNOU initiated the re-registration process with he IGNOU admission 2025 process. It is open for all Online and ODL (UG, PG, and some Diploma) level courses in the January academic session. IGNOU Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria

• For IGNOU UG admission students must have a 12th qualification from any recognized educational board. There is no minimum percentage requirement for admission.
• IGNOU PG admission 2025 January session eligibility criteria is a bachelor’s degree in the relevant stream. Student must produce the degree from a relevant university.
  
• To pursue the IGNOU Diploma and Certificate level courses, students must have a 10+2 from a recognized board. Some courses at certificate level are available after 10th class only. These diploma and certificate courses are skill based IGNOU short term courses. They last for only 6 months to 1 year in duration.
• IGNOU admission 2025-26 are directly merit based for all courses (except BEd, PBScN, and PhD). An entrance exam is conducted for BEd, Post Basic Nursing (PBScn), and PhD.

IGNOU Admission 2025 Fees

Average PG course fees at IGNOU is in the range Rs.10,000 to Rs.31,000 per year. This amount is accepted through online IGNOU student login 2025. 

UG courses fees at IGNOU range between Rs.Rs.9,000 to Rs.15,000 per year. Similarly for the 2025 January IGNOU session Certificate courses students pay between Rs.6,000 to Rs.18,000.

Apart from these academic fees, IGNOU application fee of Rs. 300/- is paid online. This is a one time payment and it is non refundable. Every semester students pay an IGNOU exam form fee of Rs. 200/- per theory subject. Practical exam form fee is Rs. 300/- to be paid before IGNOU term end examination.

How to Generate a IGNOU DEB ID?

Distance Education Bureau Identification is an online ID that help universities track the distance education credit and marks of students. It is now mandatory to register with the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) and make an ID. This ID is used during the IGNOU admission process 2025 to monitor the distance education history and records. To make this ID students can visit the official website of DEB @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.

To make the DEB ID students must have an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID. Step by step process to make a DEB ID is:

Step 1: Visit the DEB website @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.

Step 2: On the website a dialogue box is given for DEB ID generation.

Step 3: If the student already has an ABC ID, they can enter the ABC ID on that dialogue box and it will generate the DEB ID.

Step 4: For students that do not have ABC ID, they can visit the digi locker and create their ABC ID there.

Step 5: After creating the ABC ID they can return to the DEB portal to register and create DEB ID.

IGNOU Admission 2025 Process

Step 1: Visit the official website of the IGNOU ODL admission.

Step 2: Open the “New Registration” link.

Step 3: Fill up basic details.

Step 4: Lastly, click over the Register button.

Step 5: A username and password are created for IGNOU admission login and sent to the registered email.

Step 6: Log in to the IGNOU ODL admission portal with the new credentials.

Step 7: Enter academic details like previous degrees and qualifications. Similarly, enter personal details where needed.

IGNOU Multiple Entry and Exit

IGNOU also offers flexible admission options with multiple entry and exit opportunities. This is allowed across programs like BCom and BSc. According to the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a student can exit an IGNOU degree program before the completion of the full course.

Now students can exit with a small Diploma or Certificate level degree from their undergraduate degrees. But they do not lose their academic credits and can get a UG certificate or a Diploma.

IGNOU ODL vs Online Courses

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced admissions for the January 2025 session. Students can enroll in a variety of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) courses across certificate, diploma, and degree programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Although both ODL and Online mode of programme do not have regular physical classes, but there are a few differences between them.

IGNOU 2025 Courses

IGNOU initiated admission for all Online and ODL (UG, PG, Certificate, and Diploma) level courses in the 2025-26 January academic session. Students must be eligible for their desired course from any recognized educational board or university. Applicants must pay the registration/application form fee of INR 300 for all programs.

IGNOU Samarth Portal is designed for the online admission process, but to submit an offline admission form, applicants must go to one of the university’s authorized regional centers. The admission form must be accurately filled out before submission so that the admissions department might not cancel the admission of applied students.

IGNOU MBA Admission January Session

IGNOU FLIP Admission

IGNOU Admission Fee Refund

It is also possible that a student may decide to not continue their IGNOU admission process. Foreseeing this IGNOU has an admission cancellation policy for the 2025 January process. This includes the process of fee refund and admission cancellation application. Admission can be cancelled online using the student portal. Students can use admission login to notify IGNOU if they decide to opt out of the admission process 2025. However, the amount of fee refunded will depend on the time of cancellation. How to Apply for IGNOU Fee Refund

Step 1: Enrolled students should open the registered email account. Fee refund request can only be made from same email account as used during IGNOU admission 2025.

Step 2: Send a mail to @canceladms@ignou.ac.in citing Enrollement number, Candidate’s Name, and Programme Name.

Step 3: Make sure the mail is sent before 60 days end from the IGNOU admission last date.

Step 4: Send the mail and wait for reply from IGNOU.

IGNOU Result 2025

Results for all IGNOU subjects are displayed online on the official IGNOU website. December 2025 TEE final results are out for early viewing. IGNOU students who need the their results early can go to the results portal and see their term end examination results. IGNOU provide this service for students who need to apply for further studies or for jobs. During the hiring process of various jobs IGNOU students may need to submit the final year mark sheet for evaluation. For this IGNOU lets students download the early viewing mark sheet before the final release of TEE results.
