IGNOU BEd Course
Bachelor of Education is a 2-year professional course in the field of teacher training. IGNOU has started the distance education program for this course to assist students interested in forming a career in teaching. This distance education IGNOU course is filled with subjects focused on training students in teaching techniques. IGNOU assigns specific study centres to BEd students after the admission process. These study centres deal with the counselling sessions for BEd subjects. IGNOU BEd Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, students must carry a UG or PG degree with at least 50% percent of marks. If the student has a postgraduate degree, it should be completed in any of the following courses: Science/Social Science/Humanities/Commerce.
Students with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology or with a specialization in Science and Mathematics, need to have a minimum of 55% marks. IGNOU provides relaxation of 5% required marks following government norms to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer) or PWD categories.
Trained in-service teachers in elementary education are eligible for IGNOU BEd admission 2026 without minimum percentage criteria. Students who have completed face-to-face mode, NCTE-recognized teacher education program can also apply for the B.Ed ODL program.

IGNOU BEd Course Fees
Bachelor of Education course at IGNOU has academic fees, application fee, re registration fee, exam form fee, and a university development fee. IGNOU BEd course fee is Rs. 55,000/-. IGNOU Simultaneous Admission
Students are allowed to pursue 2 courses from IGNOU at the same time. This gives extra edge to students who can manage their time and studies to gain multiple qualifications. This can be done in the same academic year while choosing the same level short term courses. For example: Students can choose 2 IGNOU certificate programs in the same admission cycle.
One UG and one PG program must be selected in different admission cycles. Eg. If a student decides to select an MA course with an IGNOU BEd course, they must choose one subject in the October cycle and the other in the January cycle. IGNOU BEd Entrance Exam 2026
IGNOU BEd Entrance examination is an all-India level entrance test conducted by the University as a Computer Based Test (CBT). In 2026 session IGNOU BEd entrance exam will be in offline mode, the duration of the test is two hours. An entrance test comprised two sections and included a total of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
Indira Gandhi National Open University BEd entrance exam registration will be done online and the registration fee is INR 1000. IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Exam Pattern
IGNOU B.Ed entrance is an online conducted exam. It consists of multiple-choice questions. Students will have to answer 100 questions for 100 marks. There will be no negative marking. Question paper is divided into 2 parts.
Part 1 of the BEd entrance exam covers the General English comprehension, analytical reasoning, logical thinking, and general knowledge of a student. There are questions from the general subject of these courses.

IGNOU BEd Assignments Submission
Students can submit the offline assignments at the IGNOU regional centers. Below are the steps that students must follow to submit the IGNOU BEd assignment using offline services.
- After completing the IGNOU BEd assignments, compile it in a spiral bind.
- Make a front page mentioning the student’s name, roll number, subject code, date, and other needed details.
- Make sure that the assignment is hand written. Printed or typed assignments will not be accepted.
- Go to the assigned BEd Program learning center or the IGNOU Regional Center.
- At the student service center assignments can be submitted.
IGNOU BEd Term End Examination
IGNOU conducts term end examination (TEE ) at the end of every semester. Students apply to the BEd TEE by filling up the IGNOU exam forms. These forms are released a month before the TEEs. To appear in the IGNOU BEd term end examination students must fill these exam forms. IGNOU exam form fee is Rs. 200/- per theory subject and Rs. 300/- per practical subject. If a student misses the deadline, exam forms can be filled in with a late fee of INR 1100.
Before filling the exam forms students must ensure that they have submitted the required number of IGNOU BEd assignments. Otherwise they will not be allowed to sit in the IGNOU BEd TEE. Students can submit the IGNOU exam form by visiting the university’s official portal, @exam.ignou.ac.in.
