Admission to the PhD course at IGNOU is conducted based on UGC NET with fellowship (with JRF) for category A, and for category B, UGC NET qualified candidates without fellowship.

IGNOU PhD Entrance Exam 2026
Indira Gandhi National Open University accepts admission to the PhD course on the basis of the entrance exam score. The University is now stopping the PhD entrance exam. IGNOU PhD Fee Structure 2026
PhD degree programs at IGNOU with coursework fees for the first year are INR 16,800 to INR 36,000/- per year. This fee depends on the program chosen by the student.
