IGNOU LLB Admission 2026: IGNOU opens its admission portal for various law courses for the July academic session 2026. IGNOU only offers law courses at the diploma and certificate levels. IGNOU offer Law Course Admission to specialisations like Criminal Justice, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Consumer Protection, Patent Law, and Human Rights. IGNOU LLB admission 2026 last date is 15 July 2026. Admission is conducted online through the official website @ignou.ac.in, and the applicants are required to pay an INR 300 application fee at the time of applying.

To be eligible, students must have a 10+2 qualification from an educational board or a bachelor’s degree with 45% to 50% marks from a recognised university. Students have to pay annual course fees ranging from INR 1400 to INR 10,000/-. All the program and study material will be provided in English medium only. As per the University Grant Commission (UGC), the Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) course is not offered in distance education. Instead of direct LLB admission, IGNOU will start the application process for Diploma and Certificate in Law courses like Cyber Law, Patent Practice, Human Rights, Consumer Protection, Human Trafficking, and more. IGNOU has begun the admission process for the diploma law courses for the July cycle. The application submission deadline is set as 15 July 2026. The total law/LLB course fees are INR 2500 to INR 8400, depending on the specialisations. The registration fee for law courses is INR 300, and the development fee is INR 400.

IGNOU follows the regulations of UGC and thus does not offer an LLB course in ODL and Online mode. LLB is a practical, heavy course; it requires regular faculty interaction and mock drills. It is not possible to provide education in a distance mode without affecting the quality of education.

IGNOU Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR)

The duration of the PGD in Intellectual Property Rights program is three years, divided into six semesters. The program consists of eight courses that cover the various aspects of intellectual property, like Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks. The minimum eligibility requirement is graduation with 50% marks in any discipline from a recognized university.

• Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR): A one-year program (extendable up to three years) requiring graduation in any discipline, with a fee of INR 10,200.
• Post-Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ): Another one-year program, extendable to three years, with a similar eligibility requirement and a fee of INR 10,800.
• Post-Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL): A six-month program extendable to two years, open to graduates or students in the 4th and 5th years of integrated LLB programs who have completed three years, with a fee of INR 8,400.
• Post-Graduate Certificate in Patent Practice (PGCPP): A six-month program costing INR 9,600, available to graduates in Science, Technology, or Medicine or those in the later years of an integrated LLB program.
• Diploma in Paralegal Practice: A one-year program extendable to three years, requiring 10+2 or equivalent qualifications, with a fee of INR 8,400.
• Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law: IGNOU does not offer a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law. They offer a Certificate course Diploma in Labour Law. The duration of this course is 6 months to 2 years. 

For certificate courses like Human Rights, Consumer Protection, and others, fees range from INR 1,400 to INR 2,700 with durations ranging from six months to two years.
