Admission 2026 July session at IGNOU will open in the 3rd week of April 2026 for all ODL and online programs. The forms will be invited online at the Samrth admission portal @ignou.ac.in for all courses. Students can enrol in various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programs offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The IGNOU admission process for IGNOU is available online, making it easy for students to apply from anywhere. 

Students must select their preferred courses, fill out the online application form, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee. Students can choose from 339 total courses at IGNOU. Among them, 295 are IGNOU distance education courses.

There are multiple entry and exit options available for the distance IGNOU programme. Students can also check their admission status for the IGNOU July Session online after the registration process. 

IGNOU students get study material in online or printed format, depending on their choice. To support distance education and online courses, IGNOU also offers contact classes to enrolled students. These classes are conducted at IGNOU study centres and regional centres. Assignments will be used to help students study their course well. To get the assignments, students can visit either the study centre and get the printed form on an A4 sheet. There is also an online assignment portal ready for students to download the PDF format of IGNOU assignments. 

These IGNOU centres also help in the offline admission process for various IGNOU PG, UG, and other Diploma and certificate courses. Assignments are also given to enrolled students every semester. 

Eligibility for IGNOU Admission 2026

• For IGNOU UG admission, students must have a 12th qualification from any recognized educational board. There is no minimum percentage requirement for admission.
• IGNOU PG admission 2026 July Session eligibility criteria require a bachelor’s degree in the relevant stream. Students must produce a degree from a relevant university.
  
• To pursue the IGNOU Diploma and Certificate level courses, students must have a 10+2 from a recognized board. Some courses at the certificate level are available after 10th class only. These diploma and certificate courses are skill-based IGNOU short term courses. They last for only 6 months to 1 year in duration.
• Admission in 2026-27 IGNOU courses is directly merit-based for all courses (except BEd, PBScN, and PhD). An entrance exam is conducted for BEd, Post Basic Nursing (PBScn), and PhD.

IGNOU Admission Fees Structure 2026

• UG course fees at IGNOU range between Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 15,000 per year. Similarly, for the 2026 July IGNOU session, Certificate course students pay between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 18,000. 
• Average PG course fees at IGNOU are in the range Rs.10,000 to Rs.31,000 per year. This amount is accepted through the online IGNOU student login 2026.

Apart from these academic fees, IGNOU application fee of Rs. 300/- is paid online. This is a one time payment and it is non-refundable. Every semester, students pay an IGNOU exam form fee of Rs. 200/- per theory subject. Practical exam form fee is Rs. 300/- to be paid before the IGNOU term-end examination.

IGNOU Admission Process 2026

• Visit the official website of the IGNOU ODL admission.
• Open the “New Registration” link.
• Fill up the basic details.
• Lastly, click on the Register button.

• A username and password are created for IGNOU admission login and sent to the registered email.
• Log in to the IGNOU ODL admission portal with the new credentials.
• Enter academic details like previous degrees and qualifications. Similarly, enter personal details where needed.
• Pay the IGNOU application fee for 2026. The amount is Rs. 300/-.
• Submit your admission form 2026. An acknowledgement form is generated. Download it. This form has the enrollment number of the applicant.

Documents Needed

IGNOU asks for documents with various details like educational, identification, address proof related documents for the 2026 admission process. These documents are collected during admission as soft copies and when a student is selected for admission, they need to produce these documents for offline verification. IGNOU Courses List 2026

IGNOU Samarth Portal is designed for the online admission process, but to submit an offline admission form, applicants must go to one of the university’s authorized regional centres. The admission form must be accurately filled out before submission so that the admissions department might not cancel the admission of applied students.

Indira Gandhi National Open University will soon commence the admission for Postgraduate courses in the July 2026 academic session. Admission forms are available on the official website of the university @ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. IGNOU application fee is INR 300 for all the IGNOU PG programs. This fee is accepted while filling out application forms. IGNOU PG course’s academic fees start from INR 8,400 and goes to INR 45,000.

 IGNOU accepts state board and national board passing certificates like UP Board, CBSE, ICSE, etc. Additionally, there is no age limit as an eligibility criterion for MA admission during the 2026 IGNOU July session.

Indira Gandhi National Open University will soon open the admission portal for the PhD program in the next academic session. The university offers admission to the Ph.D. program only in the July Session. IGNOU FLIP Courses Admission

There are few Fixed Learning Intake Programmes (FLIP) given at IGNOU. Students can apply to these programmes on a separate admission portal designed specifically for FLIP courses admission 2026. How to Generate a IGNOU DEB ID?

• To make the DEB ID students must have an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) ID.  The following Steps are to make a DEB ID is:
• Visit the DEB website @deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.
• On the website a dialogue box is given for DEB ID generation.
• If the student already has an ABC ID, they can enter the ABC ID on that dialogue box and it will generate the DEB ID.
• For students that do not have ABC ID, they can visit the digi locker and create their ABC ID there.
• After creating the ABC ID they can return to the DEB portal to register and create DEB ID.

Steps to Apply for Online IGNOU Admission 2026 July session

To apply for IGNOU Admission 2026 July session, visit the Samarth portal provided by the IGNOU, then register yourself and create a username and password and login. After that search for the course in which you want to get admission, fill the application form and upload necessary documents and check all your details again and then pay the registration fees online. Finally review the details and submit the IGNOU Admission 2026 July session application form and download the confirmation slip.  

Offline IGNOU 2026 Admission at Regional Centre

• For taking admission in the 2026 session using offline IGNOU services visit nearby regional centre.
• Ask for the office of “Student Service Cell” at the regional centre or study centre.

IGNOU ODL vs Online Courses

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced admissions for the July 2026 session.
