IGNOU MEd Admission 2026: Master of Education is a 2 year post graduate degree program made for educators to enhance their skills and advance leadership roles with the aim to specialise in counselling, curriculum development or educational technology. The course was started in June 2009 and approved by NCTE. It mainly focuses on evidence-based research, pedagogical techniques, and educational leadership. Admission process has now commenced for the IGNOU MEd course in the January 2026 academic session, and the deadline to apply is now extended till 15 February 2026.

For IGNOU MEd Admission, students are required to have at least 1 year of teaching experience and completion of BEd (Bachelor of Education) from a recognised board of Education. Also, candidates interested in enrolling in this course are required to appear in the national-level entrance exam.

Admissions are currently open for the year 2026-27 at Indira Gandhi National Open University for both UG and PG programmes. As per UGC guidelines, IGNOU does not provide a Master of Education program for students in distance mode forthe  January session 2026. Applicants who want to pursue this degree need to get admitted to a university that provides regular/traditional classes. Candidates will get selected on the basis of their Bachelor of Education results and 1 year of teaching experience.

Application fee at Indira Gandhi Open University is approx INR 300 for all UG and PG courses. Reserved category students will get relaxation in the program fee but not in the application fee. To get enrolled in IGNOU programs, individuals need to visit the official portal of ignou samarth. Filling the application form does not mean that admission is done. The university will check all the details you have entered and will also verify your documents. If the information is incorrect or incomplete, it will result in form rejection. Eligibility for IGNOU MEd Admission 2026

Indira Gandhi National Open University does not offer any Master of Education program for students in Distance mode. It is only available in regular mode. To get admission in this degree program, students must have completed their Bachelor of Education (BEd) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 to 55% of marks and teaching experience of 1 to 2 years. There is no age limit for admission.

IGNOU MEd Admission Process 2026

Step 1: Visit the official IGNOU website at @ignouadmission.samarth.edu. On the left side you will see a new registration option. Click on it and fill out the form with all the information requested

Step 2: After completing the registration form use the login information that the university sent to your registered email address to access your account

Step 3: Complete the admission form accurately by entering all of your personal data

Step 4: Upload every document that is required for admission including your signature grade report photos and educational records 

Step 5: Pay the admission fee online using a credit or debit card net banking or UPI service after carefully reviewing the application form

Step 6: Take a screenshot or print the payment slip after the admission fee has been successfully paid

Step 7: Await the IGNOU admissions confirmation which will be sent to the email address you registered

Step 8: The counseling process will begin once your admission has been properly confirmed. You will then be called to the campus to pay the program fee and reserve your seat

IGNOU MEd Fees

IGNOU MEd Fee consists of registration fee, assignment fee, examination fee and total fee, etc. Typically, the fee for IGNOU MEd is INR 40,000, which one can pay in 2 instalments with an application fee of INR 300 and an additional fee needs to be paid at the time of registration, examination, etc. Candidates from the reserved category can apply for fee reimbursement according to the university policy.

IGNOU MEd Assignment 2026 

Assignment of IGNOU MEd Program is mandatory as it carries 30% of weightage for final grade and it must be handwritten covering all blocks of course. Candidates are required to submit assignments which consist of 100 marks each which will make you eligible for term end examination. Students can make submission by visiting regional centre of IGNOU or by designated online methods.
