The Jabalpur Regional Centre of IGNOU was functioning as a sub-regional center earlier. In 2005, it became a Regional Centre. It aimed to fulfill the educational needs of the disadvantaged, especially the tribal population of the region.
20 districts come under the jurisdiction of IGNOU Jabalpur regional center. Seventy-four Learner Support Centres function under IGNOU Jabalpur. It provides study options to the tribals of remote areas through its mobile study centers.
