IGNOU Law Admission 2026: IGNOU is expected to open its admission portal for various law courses for the upcoming January session 2026.  IGNOU only offers law courses at the diploma and certificate levels. Such as Criminal Justice, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Consumer Protection, Patent Law, and Human Rights. IGNOU Law admission will be conducted online along with payment, so the registration fee of INR 300/-. To be eligible, students must have a 10+2 qualification from an educational board or a bachelor’s degree with 45% to 50% marks from a recognized university. Students have to pay annual course fees ranging from INR 1400 to INR 10,000/-. All the program and study material will be provided in English medium only. Learners will be provided with access to online study material and assignments. Apply now for IGNOU law admission @ignou.samarth.edu.in before the last date, which is 15th January 2026*.

IGNOU LLB Admission 2026

As per the University Grant Commission (UGC), the Bachelor of Legislative Law (LLB) course is not offered in distance education. IGNOU follows the regulations of UGC and thus does not offer an LLB course in ODL and Online mode. LLB is a practical, heavy course; it requires regular faculty interaction and mock drills. This is not possible to provide in a distance mode of education without affecting the quality of education.

IGNOU LAW Admission Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for IGNOU Law Admission 2026, students must have a 10+2 from a recognized board/council. Students can complete this degree in a minimum of 3 years. The admission is merit-based. Those students who scored good marks are most likely to get IGNOU Law Admission. IGNOU Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR)

The duration of the PGD in Intellectual Property Rights program is three years, divided into six semesters. The program consists of eight courses that cover the various aspects of intellectual property, like Patents, Copyrights, and Trademarks. The minimum eligibility requirement is graduation with 50% marks in any discipline from a recognized university.

Typically, the cost of pursuing this IGNOU Law Admission program is between INR 10,000 and INR 3,00,000. These courses are admitted based on the marks in previous education. The students have the option of applying both online and offline.

  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights (PGDIPR): A one-year program (extendable up to three years) requiring graduation in any discipline, with a fee of ₹10,200.
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Criminal Justice (PGDCJ): Another one-year program, extendable to three years, with a similar eligibility requirement and a fee of ₹10,800.
  • Post-Graduate Certificate in Cyber Law (PGCCL): A six-month program extendable to two years, open to graduates or students in the 4th and 5th years of integrated LLB programs who have completed three years, with a fee of ₹8,400.
  • Post-Graduate Certificate in Patent Practice (PGCPP): A six-month program costing ₹9,600, available to graduates in Science, Technology, or Medicine or those in the later years of an integrated LLB program.
  • Diploma in Paralegal Practice: A one-year program extendable to three years, requiring 10+2 or equivalent qualifications, with a fee of ₹8,400.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law: IGNOU does not offer a Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law. They offer a Certificate course Diploma in Labour Law. The duration of this course is 6 months to 2 years. 

For certificate courses like Human Rights, Consumer Protection, and others, fees range from ₹1,400 to ₹2,700 with durations ranging from six months to two years.

Indira Gandhi National Open University opens the admission process in both online and offline modes.   • Link for “Current Assignment Portal” will appear in a list. Click on the list.
  • Search for the IGNOU Law course subject code.
  • Download the assignment. Save it as a PDF file on the device.

IGNOU Law Assignments Submission

Students can submit Law assignments in two ways. They can visit their allotted IGNOU Law regional centre website. Their students will get a Google Form. This Google Form can be used to upload their handwritten assignments. Or, for offline assignments, they can go to the Regional centre. Study centers also get offline submission facilities. However, students must complete law assignments in handwritten format. Handwritten assignments are required for submission via both methods. Students must submit their assignments for the 2026 session before the due date of january 15, 2026*.
